Νατάσα Αποστολίδου: Γιατί θέλω να λυθεί το Κυπριακό.

I grew up in a city full of dead end roads. Every dead end street, every barrel that blocks the way, every soldier on the watchtower reminded me and us of the failures, the dead ends of the talks, the limitations of our imagination and hope; the limitations of this island.
I was lucky enough to live through the opening of some of these dead ends and to follow the walls of Nicosia in its entirety; the feeling of wholeness and hope consumed me.
I want to be lucky enough to live through the end of all the dead end streets of Cyprus.
I wish for the dead ends to be demolished. I wish for the next generation not to witness or experience these limitations. I wish for Cyprus and Cypriots to be able to move on, to be prosperous, to be demiliterised, to be the best that the country can be.
I say no to the limitations. I say yes to the future. The question I was asked to answer is “Why should we give a chance to Cyprus?” Well, I say… “Why shouldn’t we give a chance to Cyprus? Why shouldn’t we give a chance to our future?
